This advanced craft-based workshop provides a supportive environment for writers of the novel and short story to share their projects, sharpen their prose and elevate their work. Toward these goals, we analyse all elements of craft, such as backstory, character development, conflict, flashback, narrative pull, pacing, plot, viewpoint, progression, structure, theme and voice. Appropriate for writers of literary fiction, the workshop assists all writers in the art of microediting and revision. Besides bringing five pages weekly to read aloud for discussion, each writer will have an opportunity to submit up to fifteen double-spaced pages to the instructor and class. The writers will read and constructively comment on the longer submissions outside workshop then provide feedback in workshop.
