This advanced workshop inspires writers to create their best short and long-form fiction through instruction, analysis, critique and practice. We explore all craft elements in depth—from audience and backstory to theme, tone and voice. Our critique method emphasizes thoughtful analyses of each writer’s work to discover which elements achieve the writer’s purpose, or not, and why. We also examine the art of revision, with each writer submitting up to five pages weekly to the group and instructor, and one manuscript submission of 15 pages to the same once during the series. Writers also share their goals and aspirations, and can contact the instructor with questions throughout the series. The workshop is suitable for writers of literary and genre fiction for publication and/or personal exploration.
A writing sample of 250 words maximum is required for entrance.
*Manuscript Series: Besides submitting five pages weekly to read aloud to the group, each writer has the opportunity to submit up to 15 double-spaced pages for constructive comment and critique.
