Joanna Simmons is a writer, director, performer, and creative collaborator based in NYC. She studied theater at Northwestern University. As well as writing her own plays, she has helped many other artists to develop, write and perform original shows at Wild Project, The Tank, The Edinburgh International Fringe Festival and United Solo, among others. She has coached sketch comedy teams at The Magnet, The PIT, and Upright Citizens Brigade. She served for over a decade as Associate Artistic Director at The Story PIrates, a creative writing organization that works nationally in grade schools to encourage young people to put their ideas down on paper. The position involved casting, and training hundreds of actors in both NYC and LA. She currently teaches writing, and the creative process, and has a passion for helping artists find and fall in love with their creative voice.
