With over fifteen years of teaching and school administrative experience, Kristen Ball spent nine years teaching middle school where she pioneered a School-to- School program connecting her students with students in rural East Africa. Currently she works in a high school program, teaching children in need of social and emotional support. Kristen also works at The Southfield Center where she tutors middle and high school students in the areas of academics and executive functions, and – a certified yoga instructor – Kristen also teaches yoga with a focus on classes for kids and teens to promote wellness, and mindfulness, and to build and reinforce stress management. In addition to schools, Kristen also has worked in educational publishing and nonprofit organizations. Kristen holds degrees from Boston College and Teachers College, Columbia University and is a middle grade book author. Her debut novel, A Calf Named Brian Higgins, is based on her experience living in rural Kenya and is being published by One Elm Books, the middle grade imprint of Red Chair Press, with a release date of August 1, 2018.
