Two on One: Getting the feedback you need on your Screenplay, Play, or Novel

Screenwriting instructor Alana Sanko and playwriting instructor Douglas Moser are taking a page from their popular “Hunker Down and Write” seminars and offering thirty minute or one hour consultation sessions to help writers leap over hurdles. Together, they will meet with individuals via Zoom, providing feedback and insight into your story (for screenplays, plays, and novels). Writers can submit up to 5 pages (one day before session) for review.  Sessions are 30 minutes (for $80) or 1 hour (for $140).

Along with an opening sentence that grabs the agent’s attention, writer will be guided towards choosing comparison titles, pulling out the most marketable elements, and highlighting the right readership.

Partial Work Critique

Having trouble with your opening chapter? Need feedback on just one section of your manuscript? Our editors are happy to work with you on smaller portions of your work as well.

**Contact the office for a quote.

Basic Manuscript Critique

If you have completed your first draft or are stuck in the midst of a manuscript, a basic critique is a good place to start. An instructor will read your manuscript and provide broad stroke feedback in an editorial letter (roughly 3 to 5 pages). The feedback will address the manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses, including major issues with plot or character development, setting and pace. You’ll have an opportunity to provide any questions before and after you submit your work.

**Submit twenty-five pages and manuscript overall length (page count) for a quote.

Full Manuscript Critique

This option is for the writer who wishes to polish his or her completed manuscript. Your editor will provide micro and macro feedback with line edits and an editorial letter that addresses the manuscript’s strengths and weaknesses, including plot and character development, use of setting, repetition, and basic grammar (note: this is not a copyedit but glaring grammatical issues will be marked). The critique includes the opportunity to discuss edits with the editor after completion to address any lingering questions or new concerns once you have reviewed the editorial recommendations.

**Submit twenty-five pages and the manuscript overall length (page count) for a quote.

Manuscript Copyedit

If you are ready to submit your manuscript, but it needs that last check of grammar and punctuation, our resident copyeditor will cross your t’s and dot your i’s. This service does not address big picture topics like plot or character development, but it’s an excellent way to be sure you are putting your best foot forward with a polished manuscript.

Adele Anessi’s workshop has not only made me a better writer, but a more critical reader and editor as well.  The feedback from both teacher and classmates has been invaluable and has opened up new ways for me to see my work.  But the cherry on top has been the wonderful camaraderie of our group.  I couldn’t have asked for kinder, more supportive or more enriching people.
