This master-level workshop presents a tantalizing opportunity for writers who are well into their novel or memoir manuscripts. Instructor Alison Dickens is the real deal, a former Senior Editor from Penguin/Random House who offers an insider’s perspective on the industry, along with detailed and encouraging guidance on polishing your manuscript.
During this course, you’ll share four, 20 page increments of your work via email, on an alternating weekly basis. You’ll receive in-depth critiques during class time that you can then apply to your manuscript as a whole. Even on your off weeks, you’ll glean loads of helpful advice from working with your fellow participants’ pages. The editorial lessons apply to everyone and will be designed for maximum impact, covering issues of craft like: character, POV, setting, pacing and narrative arc.
You may also share a query letter and/or synopsis for evaluation and discussion.
