In this master-level course, you will have the opportunity to share 20-25 page increments of your work via email three to four times during the course of the term, for a minimum total of 60-75 pages reviewed and discussed. You will receive in-depth critiques during class time that you can then apply to your manuscript as a whole. You will glean helpful advice from working with your fellow participants’ pages as well, honing your revision skills.
The editorial lessons apply to everyone and will be designed for maximum impact, covering elements of craft such as: character, POV, setting, pacing and narrative arc.
This master-level workshop presents an opportunity for writers who are seriously committed to their novel or memoir manuscripts.
Instructor Allison Dickens, a former Senior Editor from Penguin/Random House, offers an insider’s perspective on the industry, along with detailed and encouraging guidance on completing and/or polishing your manuscript.
If time allows, you may also share a query letter and/or synopsis for evaluation and discussion.
