The Westport Writers’ Workshop is an independent literary arts center offering enriching, supportive creative writing classes, as well as literary readings to the local public. Our organization also provides free writing workshops to underserved populations in their own communities.
2020 was a wonderful year for our Service workshops. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to offer free writing workshops at the following organizations/schools:
as well as hold free workshops via Zoom for:
- Essential Workers
- Writers Healing From Trauma
- Women Affected By Breast Cancer
This year we also offered partial scholarships to 25 writers who needed to write, but did not have the financial means. Our goal is to continue to grow the service arm of our organization, and to offer the gift of writing and workshops to more organizations and communities who could benefit from its healing powers. WWW gives thanks to YOU; if you would like to offer thanks in return, we would be most appreciative! No donation amount is too small.
Writers We’ve Helped:
“Getting nurtured and validated both by the instructor and other participants gave me a sense of feeling replenished and of having “my cup” filled – it is hard to give to patients and clients when our own well is empty and this class definitely helped me to keep giving to those I care for.” -An Essential Worker
“The instructor created a feeling of safety and warmth right from the beginning of the workshop – and other participants were lovely, open and supportive. We all shared the pain and stress of being helping professionals at such a stressful time.” -A writer from our Free workshops for Essential Workers
