Come learn the art and craft of personal essay writing in this generative and inclusive workshop. We’ll write our way into the understandings and discoveries we long to make for the memories, dreams, and occasions that continue to surface in our minds because they want to live on the page.
We will read and discuss examples of personal essays and write to in-class prompts, sharing our writing in an encouraging atmosphere. If a prompt has “prompted” you to continue writing after you have left class – great! During the course of the term, there will be opportunities to bring in up to 5 double-spaced pages of work you have written outside of class to be shared and discussed. All feedback in workshop will focus on what is strong and memorable in your writing.
This workshop is suited for all levels of writers!
