Do you want to breathe fresh creative life into an existing project? Do you want to add depth and dimensionality to your characters and scenes? Do you like finding inspiration in unlikely places? Then Advanced Prose is for you!
In this project-focused, generative workshop we integrate our intentions for our projects with the unexpected magic of the artistic process. We write together for an hour from a (sometimes unconventional) prompt that speaks to enumerable aspects of writing, such as thematic development, style, voice, the ineffable creative process — with a special focus on creating deep and complex characters. Every prompt can speak to any number of these aspects; which you focus on and how it comes to life is up to you and whatever will best serve your work. After our in-class writing time, each writer reads their work aloud and the group offers supportive feedback.
Bring a notebook or laptop, an open heart and mind, and be prepared to be surprised by the places your imagination, and your project, takes you.
