Join Allison Dickens for a prompt class guaranteed to get your writing juices flowing. Taking inspiration from Westport Writers’ Workshop’s twentieth anniversary we will use prompts based on the themes of anniversaries, the number 20 and legendary Westport authors like F. Scott Fitzgerald and Shirley Jackson to explore craft techniques. This is your chance to experiment with writing dialogue, conveying setting through action, introducing emotion to the page, showing not telling, and creating multi-dimensional characters in your existing or new work. Allison will provide prompts, we will write and then share and celebrate our work. Writers of all levels are encouraged to attend.

About the Instructor...
Allison H. Dickens was a Senior Editor at the Penguin and Random House Publishing Groups. She co-created the XYZ line of books for twenty-somethings while at Ballantine/Random House, and oversaw the Ballantine Reader's Circle program. She has also worked in magazine publishing and for an independent publisher. Wanting a more family friendly schedule, she left full-time publishing in 2008, becoming a freelance editor and workshop instructor. In 2022, she relocated to London, England, where she continues to work with authors on all aspects of developing their writing.
