What are the worst scenes to write, and why? For me, it's been ones with challenging choreography (a consensual love scene, a fight scene), or anything overly emotional (a death scene - I fear it might go too maudlin). In this one-time session, we'll break down how acclaimed authors such as Douglas Stuart, Donna Tartt and Sally Rooney handle these topics, and we'll write to prompts based on brief excerpts of their work. Participants will have the opportunity to read one or two passages they've generated for feedback as time allows.
