"someone has to get published, it might as well be you"
Are you ready to submit your writing to magazines, or learn more about the submitting and publishing process? The market for short writing from essays and articles to short fiction and poetry has expanded over the last 12 months for many reasons. It is a really good time to be a writer. As a writer, editor-in-chief and publisher I have a 360 view. I’ve been submitting my work for decades, and have also been on the receiving end — reading thousands of submissions, and editing and publishing some. I know first hand that writers do get published, establish readerships, and get paid.
In this two hour workshop I will provide first-hand knowledge on how to find the best markets for your work, and how to submit to magazines, contests, and literary awards. We will go over best practices when working with an editor and I’ll share examples of published and unpublished writing to illustrate why some pieces were published and others were not. We will wrap up with a lively discussion and Q & A. All participants will receive a short list of timely submission opportunities with links to submit, as well as a resource list of the consumer and literary publications that are highly regarded.
