This workshop is instruction based designed around in-class writing to specific prompts. We will focus on a different aspect of craft each week. Topics include: Voice — what is the voice of innocence and the voice of experience in memoir and how to weave them together. Dialogue — why is it important and how to write it authentically. Scene — how to enter a scene using an image or a photograph. Metaphors — their power and how to use them in your story. Research — in what way does research enhance the story? What does it mean to show not tell? Timeline — where does my story begin and where does it end and then what? All writing will be done in class. This class is for beginner or advanced writers.
