“Write the best, most amazing, book you can. The wisest, most honest, most human book you have inside you.” -Anne Lamott
This class is geared toward advanced memoir writers who have written and workshopped some portion of their memoir. This class offers both short craft discussions and feedback on your writing. Our work is to help transform a certain time of your life experience into a well-crafted memoir. We will define and discuss scope, structure, narrative arc, theme, revision, and the importance of recreating dialogue, as well as develop our unique writing style and voice.
Each week, you’ll share a brief excerpt (up to five double-spaced pages) of your writing, which we will be discussed in a supportive, creative atmosphere, with the goal of elevating the piece, while also sharpening editing and critiquing skills. We will also discuss publishing options including traditional, small press, agented, hybrid, and independent publishing models.
