Here are the current instructor choices:

Christine Pakkala

Christine Pakkala has fifteen years of experience coaching students in their writing of the Common Application essay and supplemental essays. Christine gives students the tools they need to choose the Common App prompt that speaks to them, find their “voice” and create an essay that reflects their personality, talents, perseverance, and unique background. Christine has worked both independently and for educational consulting companies with terrific results.

Amanda Parrish Morgan

Amanda has been helping students plan, draft and revise college essays since her days as a high school English teacher. Over the past two decades, she's taught college essay workshops through The Connecticut Writing Project and Westport Continuing Education and has worked with countless students one-on-one. At Fairfield University, where she teaches first year writing classes, Amanda has heard countless stories of college essay angst. For this reason, she uses fun (sometimes weird!) prompts, brainstorming activities, free-writing, and curiosity to help her students feel confident with both their ideas and their writing. Her priority is always ensuring that students feel free to take creative risks with their essays and maintain control over their voice and style while feeling confident that they've achieved the sometimes daunting goals of this important piece of writing.

Suzanne Farrell Smith

Suzanne works with high school students writing college admission essays, high school and college students working on applications to study abroad, and college students submitting graduate school materials. She coaches students to select relevant and memorable stories from their lives and helps them shape those stories into clear, compelling, well-organized essays.

Rahla Xenopoulos

Having taught teenagers creating writing in New York, South Africa, Greece and the United Kingdom moving to America I was struck by how overwhelmed both students and their parents are by the college writing process. What drew me to working with students as they navigate the process is my ardent belief that the writing of these essays is in fact, a great gift. It is a time when a young person gets to go on an adventure into self. They get to identify and express their passions, fears, achievements, values and dreams, it is a time when they get to literally, Tell Their Story as they step out into their brave new worlds and, what a privilege it is for me to journey alongside them.
