Have you ever wondered how the writers of Saturday Night Live create their sketches? With the tools and techniques taught in this class, you'll learn how to go from pitching funny ideas to being ready to complete your own polished, joke-heavy sketch. Sketch writing can also be utilized in screenwriting for TV and film. Everyone's got a funny bone - and this collaborative, supportive class will give the comedian in you a little stage time.

About the instructor...

Eliza Kingsbury is a sketch comedian, actor, writer, and musician from Ridgefield, CT. She is a longtime mainstage cast member of Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre NYC where her solo show, ‘Pop Stars Are Dumb (But We Love Them)’, had an extended run. She has toured with various sketch teams to UCBT LA, Montréal, Toronto, and Chicago Sketchfest. Other credits include The PIT, Reductress, and Battle of the Sketches in Austin, TX.

 

She teaches sketch comedy locally and at the New York Public Library through Urban Stages. Eliza is an alum of Accademia dell’arte in Tuscany, Italy and Sarah Lawrence College.
