Do you have an idea for a book or pages of a project, but are asking yourself, what now? Put inspiration and imagination in the drivers seat and be prepared to be amazed at the unimaged places you will take your writing in Advanced Prose. In every class, there will be a substantial in-class write designed to move the writers’ projects forward. This in class write is prompted from source material ranging from classic literature to punk rock music. Think Dickens, Nirvana, Plath, Kate Bush. Nothing is off limits when it comes to sources of inspiration or content of a writers pages. Each writer will read their new work to the group, who will provide feedback on essential elements of craft, such as structure, character development, pacing, and voice, while always honoring the writer’s intention for his work and celebrating his or her creativity. Writers suited for this class should have previous writing experience, the desire to generate raw material for a project, and be ready to take the next step towards their writing goals. Perfect for those just beginning or pursuing publication.
